Moving Back to Jamaica

A blog about my Move Back to Jamaica after 20+ years of living in the US. Most of the articles focus on the period from 2005-2009 when the transition was new, and at it's most challenging.

Why Jamaicans Have to Migrate to Become Productive

I recently wrote an article in the Gleaner: Why Jamaicans Have to Migrate to Become Productive. You can access it here: http://jamaica-gleaner.com/gleaner/20101205/business/business3.html

P.S. A recent editorial in the Observer expressed a somewhat similar sentiment: http://www.jamaicaobserver.com/editorial/Two-faced-Jamaicans--Why-are-we-better-when-overseas_8107572

Jamaicans are naturally very rebellious and aggressive because that was the genetic make-up of most of the slaves left on the island. We need a country with strict rules for us to be at our best.

Give us an inch and we will take a yard, than a mile. Our liberal, corrupt country full of shortcuts is just what makes us comfortable yet counter productive.

I am not knocking my country. This is just a straightforward observation from someone who has lived in this country all his life.

I totally agree with Falmouth. It is pretty much the same over here, too. We need to do something!
