Filling Out the US Census
There are some powerful reasons to fill out the US census by including your Caribbean ancestry, and I won't go into them here.
But here's a useful image of how the form can be completed:
Thanks for this, Francis. It is really important to defray the fear folks feel about the Census. I wonder, though, if they will count both responses to that question. Since the question doesn't say, "check all that apply", I worry that checking "Black, etc" AND specifying "Some Other Race" might render the resonse null or if they might select the first answer given. I hope not, because the response illustrated is a good way to get Caribbean nationals who are of African (or other) ancestry, counted in both categories.
I also didn't specify 'Jamaican' because I thought that 'Black/African-American/Negro' and 'Some other race' were mutually exclusive categories. Ah well. =(

ReplyDeleteOoopsey - yes it DOES allow for more than one answer. I messed mine up then. Thanks to you, others won't!
